Criminal Investigations Division | CID
The Union County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is comprised of highly trained and self-motivated Investigators. Investigators assigned to CID have the responsibility of conducting criminal investigations consisting of developing and following up on leads; identifying and interviewing potential witnesses as well as the victim(s); identifying, locating, and arresting suspects; locating and preserving physical evidence of the crime; and putting together the investigated cases to be presented to the prosecutor as well as assisting in the prosecution of the case.
The Criminal Investigations Division primarily investigates crimes against person/people, crimes against children, and crimes against property. In addition to these main functions the division is also responsible for processing crime scenes, missing persons, maintaining the Sex Offender Registry, and other investigations assigned by the Sheriff.
The Criminal Investigations Division works in collaboration with other members of the law enforcement community such as Blairsville Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI), State of Georgia Division of Natural Resources (DNR), and other State and Federal Agencies in a combined effort to make Union County safer while improving the quality of life for all.
